Who would plan a helicopter ski wedding? Well it’s one of my all-time favorite weddings!  I know- it’s unbelievable!

Brides are always looking to inject their personality into their wedding. This bride and groom certainly took it to the next level with their spectacular winter wedding. If you want to have an outdoor wedding or a mountain wedding consider this! I can honestly say I have never seen a bride snowboard in her wedding dress! What a cool idea it turned out to be! She looks gorgeous. I’m loving her white snow boots, her white jacket and this beautiful picture of thier rings in the snow. For all of you that snowboard- how often do you see a guy snowboarding in a tux? Brilliant!

I can’t thank Mitch from ZumaPhoto enough for sharing this with us. I’m sure he had to get very creative to capture these amazing photos. Even though it looks cold- the love beams from this bride and grooms face and Mitch was able to capture it perfectly.

This has to be one of my favorite unique weddings!

The bride, Jacqui, was gracious enough to share with me her thoughts about her Heli- Ski Wedding:

David and I met at a New Year’s party six years ago. On a whim, about two weeks after, he invited me to go on a road trip to the Sundance Film Festival in Park City. Being that I am a native to Los Angeles I had never seen the snow. I was ecstatic to join him on that trip. We both learned to snowboard on that trip as well. While we were in Utah we both fell in love with the snow, and as our relationship grew, every year we would take a road trip to a snowy destination such as Flagstaff, Utah, or Colorado to snowboard or just bask in the winter wonderland we don’t get to see in Southern California.

David proposed to me on Mt. Morrison in the Mammoth Mountain area. So, having our wedding on a mountain seemed very fitting. It took a lot of compromising with the family, but we were able to negotiate an additional ceremony in LA so that we could still include our friends and family in our special day.

When David had the idea to helicopter to the top of a mountain, say our vows, and snowboard down, I was all for it! He even offered to let me wear white snowboard gear, but I told him, “absolutely not!” I said to him, “every bride has to wear a wedding gown.” So, I stuck to that plan and made sure that the guys would be in suits since I would be freezing my butt off in my dress.

With windchill, the temperature was around 10 degrees. Even though my face was nearly frozen off and it was challenging snowboarding in my dress, I wouldn’t regret a single moment of that day. Our wedding was the most unforgettable experience ever!

Thanks, Jacqui

Photography by the incredible Mitch at ZumaPhoto. This is what he said about this fantastic day:

Its a new year and what better way to kick it off  than with something adventurous and unusual. Jacqui and David tied the knot atop a nearly 10,000 foot high Wasatch mountain peak on New Years Day and yours truly jumped in the helicopter with them to document it! The groomsmen went up first to pack down a bit of snow, lay down a runner for the bride to walk down, and set up a flower arch overlooking a vista so beautiful that it was surreal. Along with her gown, Jacqui wore white gloves and snowboard boots. Why snowboard boots? So they could board down the mountain and begin their life together with a jaunt through 5 feet of Utah’s famous blow-powder! Not for the faint of heart, but oh so good. Many thanks to Diamond Peaks Heli Adventures for getting us all there in safety and style!
